HOW CAN REIKI HELP ME
Illness or emotional upset can be a time of great stress. Reiki can help us cope by encouraging relaxation and bringing balance to both mind and emotion promoting a calm, peaceful sense of well being on all levels.
Reiki is a gentle yet powerful complementary therapy that may be used with confidence and effectively alongside traditional healthcare and natural remedies. Reiki encourages and supports positive personal choices, such as improving diet, taking more exercise, devoting time for rest or leisure activities, and may reduce the need for alcohol and tobacco. Creating greater inner harmony and balance, regular Reiki treatments promote a calmer response to life’s challenges. Reiki’s gentle energy is easily adapted to most medical conditions and may be used safely by people of all ages, including the newborn, pregnant mothers, surgical patients, the frail and the elderly.
Over the last few years, the reputation of this non-invasive natural healing therapy has grown to such an extent that it is becoming increasingly accepted within mainstream medicine, e.g. in hospitals and hospices, GP surgeries, private practices, complementary health centres, cancer support groups, post-operative recovery, drug rehabilitation, prisons, HIV/AIDS centres, and in the care of the elderly.

WHAT TO EXPECT DURING A REIKI SESSION
During a Reiki session the recipient simply relaxes in a sitting or lying position and there is no need to remove any clothing. It involves the gentle placing of hands on or over specific points of the body; there is no massage or manipulation. Reiki may be experienced as a flow of energy, mild tingling, warmth, coolness, other sensations, or nothing at all.
The length of Reiki sessions may vary, but are usually half to one hour in duration.
Reiki is deeply relaxing and has a profoundly calming effect. A short case history will be taken prior to discussing treatment options, which will always be subject to your own preferences, and can be changed at any time in line with progress. Even one single Reiki session can make a difference; however a course of regular sessions may be more effective, depending on the individual’s needs.
Reiki is not an alternative to conventional medicine. Always consult a GP about acute or infectious conditions, and in connections with problems of an urgent nature.
